My Life is Set in Type

Typography and Text Art by Dino
“You”, is my latest creating involving inspiration, as influenced by Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful. the font i chose there is one of my current favorites, Elephant. similar fonts which appear on my works are good ol’ Bodoni MT and Modern No. 20.
oh, how i dwell on fonts. i wanna make post on that soon. :D

my rushed typography also turned out to be one of my best works, as shown here in “Unique”, which was finished in about an hour. i had to finish it immediately so that i could have it printed and worn by the next day.
i originally wanted this to have a palette-like effect, where colors would just be blending here and there. a couple of touches led to this electric effect you see now, creating a stronger image of color for the picture.
hopefully i could get to sell original shirts with my own designs. hopefully. :D

once i learned how to utilize the brush options, i never stopped. “Music in Me” was one of the examples of my early works involving brush options.
i’ll show you a lot more, and bet that most of these are song lyrics. oh yeah.. about that, i cannot deny that i am such a music fan, and most of my works involve lyrics, much like “Across the Universe”.

“Open Happiness”. epic fail. i would even deny having made this. ugh.
i guess this is what happens when i force myself to make art. ugly outcomes.

“Identify You”, which became my first shirt design, wasn’t really supposed to end up on any piece of clothing. in fact, it was just the result of experimenting with a style i just learned back then (it was editing in quick mask mode, i think.)..
it turned out to be quite the combination of color and shadowy tones which qualified it to be the shirt design that it is today.
this is a result of true inspiration, unlike many others which were made for the sake of making something at the time. i think i’ll post examples of my personal goofs sometime. :)

“Across the Universe”, my own personal favorite.
this got my friend celiz(a true artist, at that) commenting on how organic my creativity is, making me the proudest little kid for a while. haha. hope you guys like the first typography i put in here.
i hope to make a second one from across the universe, but i haven’t quite gotten to making it yet. :P

“Dominate” which i created to lift spirits up when people were panicking over tests. such strong words there…

Typography and Text Art

the title is because there is a difference between the two, and i am quite careful with labeling my art. i would not want to offend the very people i look upon for inspiration - the typographers of different sites (particularly deviantart). the give their best in making text and type come alive and have personalities.

this artist is simply inspired by such.

my portfolio shall now be unveiled on this site. hopefully more and more people get to appreciate my art and how i see the world as expressed through type.
i start off with “Devil”, which i submitted to my (new) course’s program co-director for consideration. he was a priest, and he completely agreed that the devil is truly in the details. how fun.
